Instructions on how to install Windows XP from a CD. Load the Windows XP CD into the drive and boot from it. You may need to go into the BIOS and change the boot order. Press DEL, F2, or F10 to go into the BIOS/Setup. Check your manual for the exact key. Once it boots from the CD, you'll see the following screen. Press any key to start the XP setup.
You will begin to see a blue screen when setup starts and the drivers starts loading. On this screen, if you had to load any special drivers, you would press F6 to load it. Then provide the drivers on a floppy disk. ![]() On the next scren, press ENTER to begin a NEW installation of Windows XP. ![]() Press F8 to agree to the license aggreement. ![]() This next screen show the installation location. In the case where the drive is not created yet, pressing ENTER will force it to create the C: drive for you. If C: already existed, it will be shown here Press ENTER to start Install steps. ![]() Once the drive is created, it will show it on the drive available for installation. Press ENTER. ![]() This next screen lets you choose if you wnat to reformat the drive or leave the files system intact. In most cases, you would wanrt to reformat the drive so it doesn't have extra junk. ![]() |
